Brooke Hartman has called South Carolina home since she graduated in 2006 with a joint MBA/ILIR (Labor and Industrial Relations) degree. As a Human Resource Generalist for Eaton Corporation, she provides human resource support for approximately 800 employees. She spends most of her time making hiring recommendations, posting openings, screening résumés, and coordinating employee orientation. She also has responsibility for training, compensation analysis, university recruitment as well as employee relations. She thoroughly enjoys her daily interactions and is very pleased with her decision to join Eaton.
Each day she utilizes her MBA and HR education, which prepared her well for her current role at Eaton. Hartman attributes her success to the fact she understands how other departments function as well as comprehends the business environment in which Eaton operates. She knows that her knowledge of the business functions of the entire organization makes her more credible when she is recruiting professionals.
As Hartman reflects on her MBA experience at Illinois, she states that, "The most critical lesson I learned was how to work with a diverse population to accomplish goals in a team environment. This is an everyday occurrence in the world of human resources. I will never forget Global Tycoon, which provided the appropriate environment to apply the theory that I had been studying in my classes."
Hartman stays current with what's going on with the program and still feels connected. She is very excited about the construction of the new business facility and looks forward to the positive impact it will have on the program. She thinks it will enhance recruiting and attract more students. As a recruiter, she knows the new recruitment suite will make a strong impression on recruiters.
