Brian Precious is currently in his first year of study in the MBA program and expects to graduate in 2006 with concentrations in general management and marketing. He has a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Illinois. Before joining the MBA program at the University of Illinois, Brian worked for Aprimo as a management consultant focusing on Fortune 500 companies, primarily in the financial services sector. Some of the companies he worked with included Option One Mortgage and Bank of America. Earlier in his career, Brian worked for Price WaterhouseCoopers as a consultant focusing on data management. Some of his larger projects included working with Nokia to reduce fraud in their cellular phone rebate process.
Brian joined the Illinois MBA program because it had the necessary tools to meet his changing career goals. After spending several years of his career dealing with larger clients, he wished to shift his focus to smaller organizations. He felt he could make more of an impact with smaller startup companies and help them succeed.
Brian is active with the Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) as a CED associate and press relations head and serves as CED liaison to the class of 2006. He has been organizing leadership conferences for the CED and is currently working on several projects to promote CED and to increase its membership. Brian is also currently shadowing a project for the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives (OSBI) designed to help a local startup company perform a market assessment. He is also a member of the Graduate Marketing Association (GMA) and was one of just a handful of GMA members chosen to participate in the Thunderbird case competition.
