Professor Nicholas Petruzzi is the 2006 recipient of the campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching. He teaches introductory and advanced courses in operations management to MBA students. He joined the University faculty in 1996. Outside of the classroom, he focuses on creating and analyzing pricing models, specifically in the areas of revenue management and supply chain coordination. Professor Petruzzi is currently working on a research project investigating how managers choose among unreliable suppliers, meaning both demand and supply are variable.
Professor Petruzzi’s specialization in operations management began with his interest in math and its application to managing a firm. He describes operations as the study of how to use limited resources most productively, a key element of any manager’s portfolio. What he enjoys most about teaching for the MBA Program comes down to one single thing: the classroom interaction. Teaching is best when students are involved and participating in the classroom discussion.
When he is not busy in the classroom or doing research, Professor Petruzzi enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
