Part-time Evening MBA

Professor Michael Pratt

Professor Michael Pratt has been a member of the University faculty since 1994 and currently teaches the core courses in organizational behavior for the MBA Program. He also teaches some executive education classes overseas in Warsaw and Rotterdam and works with doctoral students during the summers. His research focuses on three main areas: the use of intuition in managerial decision making, how organizations shape our identities and those of our family members, and how to effectively manage people who are not physically in the same location. He also just finished editing a book on how the physical artifacts of the work environment, such as the architecture of the office building and the clothes we wear, affect organizational behavior.

Initially, Professor Pratt began his career as a psychologist and developed a desire to apply the theories and concepts he was studying. Because people spend a third of their lives at work, he entered the field of organizational behavior. He was attracted to the University and the MBA Program because there is so much diversity in the student population.

Outside of work, Professor Pratt enjoys biking and giving back to the community by volunteering with a Big Brother Little Brother group and a nonprofit organization called 10,000 Villages. He also enjoys traveling, particularly in other countries, and has jumped out of a plane twice. He and his wife have two children with a third on the way this summer.
