The ITM Concentration focuses on the role of technology and information systems in today's enterprises and provides students with a technological edge in a managerial career. Possible career choices include positions that emphasize technical skills, such as information systems manager, systems analyst, IT project manager, manager of e-commerce development, e-commerce entrepreneur, as well as positions with a primarily managerial focus, such as management consultant, e-business manager, IT consultant, manager of e-commerce processes, and corporate knowledge manager. Employers include all organizations with a need to develop and manage IT resources, as well as vendors of IT and consultancy firms.

Prerequisites:
Completion of first-year MBA core curriculum including
MBA 505 - IT and e-Business Strategy

Required:
Sixteen hours of approved 500-level courses. Below is a selection of courses that have been previously offered.


BADM 554 - Enterprise Database Management
BADM 555 - Information Systems Development and Management
BADM 556 - Electronic Commerce
BADM 557 - Decision Support and Knowledge Management
BADM 590 - Trustworthy Computing: Information Security and Management

Students may substitute one course from the following list of recommended courses:

BADM 590 - Entrepreneurship in Technology
BADM 590 - Managing People in High Tech Environments
BADM 590 - Spreadsheet Models for Management Decision Making
CS 438 - Communication Networks for Computers*

*Applicable for students without an undergraduate computer science degree only. Additional courses may be counted in arrangement with Information Sysytems (IS) faculty.

Each concentration is defined by the courses that are approved for concentration credit as well as substitution courses. Students pursuing a particular concentration who wish to include courses that are not listed must consult with an adviser in MBA Student Affairs regarding the approval process.
