All applicants to the Illinois MBA must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must have a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution in a foreign country.
- German and Austrian applicants with an arts or science degree must attain a degree level of "Diplom" or "Magister."
- Indian applicants with a three-year arts, science, or commerce degree must present both a bachelor's and a master's degree.
- French applicants must complete a four-year "Licence," or a "Diplome" program, or a professional title beyond the "baccalaureat."
- The applicant must have taken the GMAT within the last five years. The GMAT score should be forwarded by Pearson Vue to the Illinois MBA—School code VKRTK08.
- International applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit a TOEFL or an IELTS score, taken within two years from the proposed date of entry, unless within five years of the proposed term of enrollment the applicant has completed at least two years of full-time study or completed a graduate degree in a country where English is the primary language and in a school where English is the primary language of instruction. The TOEFL score should be forwarded by ETS to the Illinois MBA—School code 1836, Dept. code 02. The IELTS score should be sent to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
- Work experience is weighted heavily in admissions decisions because it provides a framework for students to participate in class. At least two years of full-time, post-undergraduate experience are strongly recommended, although exceptions have been made in the cases of joint degree applicants and applicants with compelling part-time experience. Military service may also be counted as work experience.
Non-degree applications are not accepted. Transfer courses are not accepted.
